Darika & Danava, the two demons got a boom from Lord Brahma that they wont be killed by anyone except a female & from every drop of his blood dripping from his wounds on the ground thousands of Darikas will emerge. Darika become so powerful and because of his acts Devas complained to Lord Shiva and from the third eye of Shiva , Bhadrakali took her birth. Bhadrakali astriding on the back blood hugered goddess Vetal went to kill darika . Vetal drink all the blood of Darika before it reaches ground . Blessings the viewers are also a part of this performance as Bhadrakali is the goddess who wipes small pox. The fight between Darikan & Kali is the main theme of this art form which can be treated as ritualistic performance.
